SOA Software Announces Integrated SOA Governance for the IBM WebSphere SOA Foundation

Company certifies IBM WebSphere SOA Foundation as a Governed Service Platform

Los Angeles, Calif., April 8, 2008SOA Software, a leading Integrated SOA Governance Automation vendor, today announced that it has certified the IBM WebSphere SOA Foundation as a Governed Service Platform. This allows customers to confidently use IBM WebSphere products as part of a heterogeneous enterprise SOA environment sharing services with other commercial SOA platforms like SAP, Microsoft, BEA, and Oracle, as well as RedHat and other open source providers.

Certified Governed Service Platform status means that customers can be confident that their platforms will preserve the fidelity of the governance models, structures and mechanisms that support an enterprise SOA program.

IBM WebSphere customers add SOA Software’s Integrated SOA Governance Automation solution to the IBM WebSphere SOA Foundation to achieve the following benefits:

  • Compatibility: Ensure that services they identify, design and build using their WebSphere products are relevant and consumable to applications they design, build and deploy using other technologies like Microsoft or Oracle, or buy from other vendors like SAP.
  • Visibility: Make services they expose from applications running on WebSphere products visible to and compliant with enterprise policies defined, enforced and audited across other platforms; and make services they design and build using other platforms like Microsoft and open source environments visible to and compliant with enterprise policies defined, enforced and audited across by their WebSphere applications.
  • Demand Management: Promote and ensure consistent alignment between demand from service consumers and the supply of services through Consumer Contract Provisioning.  Contracts specify the formal relationship between a consumer, or group of consumers, and a provider, or group of providers.  They specify access rights and times, SLAs and capacity, and can be used to specify policy requirements.

SOA Software’s platform-independent Integrated SOA Governance Automation solution promotes the use of Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) best-practices throughout an enterprise SOA program regardless of where services and consumers are designed, built, deployed and operated.  Workbench and Service Manager integrate seamlessly with development and runtime products from most commercial and open-source platforms. They offer deep integration with WebSphere Process Server, WebSphere Enterprise Service Bus, WebSphere DataPower SOA Appliances, WebSphere Service Registry and Repository (WSRR), WebSphere Message Broker, WebSphere Application Server, and IBM z/OS.

“We are pleased to announce the certification of the IBM WebSphere SOA Foundation as a Governed Service Platform,” said Frank Martinez, executive vice president of SOA Software.  “This certification gives customers confidence that the enterprise adoption of IBM’s WebSphere SOA Foundation will preserve the fidelity of the governance models, structures and mechanisms supporting their enterprise SOA program.”
