Senior Sales Consultant

The Sr. Sales Consultant will act as a pre-sales consulting, technical architecture, and business process solution resource for the Western Region.  He / she will act as a key “go-to” resource for the account managers and the VP-Western Region when pre-sales consulting and architecture discussions are required as part of the sales process.  In addition, this resource may serve as a customer program manager for post-sale deployments at strategic customers, with the goal of securing follow-on business.  The Sr. Sales Consultant will leverage an extensive rolodex to assist with pipeline development for Web services solutions in the western U.S.  This person will also benefit the professional services and product development organizations by developing detailed scope and requirements for pipeline deals, and by communicating customer feedback and potential product enhancement opportunities back to product management.

Key responsibilities:

Act as a pre-sales technical consultant in support of the account team in the areas of:

Web services / service-oriented architecture (high-level)

Business process, data flows, and application interfaces (functional requirements)

Product / service mapping and technical issues (architecture)

Act as a key partner liaison for future major technology / channel partners based in the Bay Area

Program-manage existing deployments to ensure customer satisfaction, reduce function creep, and develop incremental business

Develop a good working relationship with deployment resources to ensure a smooth, accurate, and detailed “handoff” process between pre-sales and post-sales

Provide field experience and customer feedback to headquarters regarding market positioning and product development

Act as regional field marketing, lead generation, and Web services evangelist resource in cooperation with corporate marketing programs

Crossover skills:

Marketing: Contribute domain expertise for customer case studies, scenario demonstrations, targeted collateral for replicable business process or industry solutions, lead generation, and trade show / event evangelism.
Product Management: Contribute domain expertise for future functional requirements driven by key customer business process needs.
Technical: Participate in the creation and presentation of business process focused demos and sales tools. Be able to handle “first-line” technical questions from customers.

Characteristics:

Bay Area based.
4+ years functional / industry experience in one or more of: high-tech manufacturing, financial services / insurance, entertainment / media, oil & gas, or biotechnology.
6+ years experience at enterprise software companies, in a pre-sales, professional services, or solution marketing role.
Experience working independently in a rapidly changing start-up environment, consistently exceeding sales quota goals.
Technical Experience: J2EE development, .NET framework, XML, EDIINT/AS1/AS2, MQSeries, WebMethods, HPOpenView, security standards.
Functional Experience: Web services, B2B XML, EDI, trading partner integration.
Application Experience: SAP, Baan, Oracle, Siebel, i2, Manugistics.
Travel: 40%
