Eric Pulier, Executive Chairman
Mr. Pulier has been a pioneer in the software and digital interactive industries for over 15 years. In 1997, the Presidential Inaugural Committee selected Mr. Pulier to create and execute the Presidential Technology Exhibition in Washington D.C. Subsequently, the President and Vice President personally unveiled his company’s work for the Starbright Foundation, and Mr. Pulier became an advisor to the Vice President on National Health Care initiatives for the Family Reunion Conference. The most successful and best-known venture capital groups in the world have financed companies that Mr. Pulier has founded or co-founded. He has been instrumental in establishing ground-breaking technology companies in several sectors including media management (IVT), Professional Services (US Interactive), voice systems (VoiceTap), and peer-to-peer networking (Mediator). As Executive Chairman of SOA Software, Mr. Pulier devotes himself to a singular focus: the standards-based real-time enterprise. Recently named one of 30 e-Visionaries by VAR Business, Mr. Pulier is a popular public speaker at premier technology conferences around the globe. He is a member of the board of directors for the Center for Telecommunications Management in Los Angeles.
Paul Gigg, President and CEO
Mr. Gigg is a four-time CEO with a track record of building companies to profitability through organic growth and acquisitions. He has operated both public and private corporations in the United States and abroad, and has strong international experience with both financing and achieving dramatic sales growth. Most recently, he was a Vice President of IBM following his sale of Access360 to the technology giant. Prior to Access360, he led the expansion of software vendor ISOCOR, and orchestrated its sale to Critical Path. In the years before ISOCOR, he built and ran numerous technology companies doing business in a variety of global markets, and is widely recognized as a leader with both entrepreneurial and operational skills. He has a solid understanding of the issues, processes and paths to success for early-stage software companies, and has an excellent track record of bringing small vendors into the large enterprise IT marketplace. He has built value for customers and shareholders alike, by enabling large enterprises to control costs, introduce new capabilities and business models, through the implementation of innovative technology. Further to this end, Mr. Gigg has initiated and leveraged major OEM relationships, often leading to a merger or acquisition. He is known for attracting and retaining talented managers, contributing to his broad handling of business issues on the path to profit. His reputation for success in market- and company-building encompasses an understanding of organizational expansion and change, and a focus towards attaining excellence, all with profitable results. He serves on the Boards of Directors of several early-stage companies, and participates as an investor in various startup opportunities. At SOA Software, he is committed to establishing and maintaining market dominance in the emerging Web Services Management and security arena.
Janine Bushman, CFO
With more than twenty years of experience in corporate financial management, Janine Bushman has served as CFO of five technology firms. Ms. Bushman has taken a company public, been the CFO of a public company, managed venture financings, complex operational challenges and numerous mergers and acquisitions (both domestically and internationally). Most recently, she co-founded Sendia Corporation where she served as the company’s CFO, establishing and managing the company’s financial, human resources, legal and administrative functions through to the company’s successful acquisition by a large publicly held company. Previously Ms. Bushman was the CFO at ISOCOR, where she was involved in all aspects of the growth of the company, spearheaded its successful NASDAQ IPO in 1996, developed its investor relations function and was a key contributor to its sale. While at ISOCOR she managed the acquisition of four international subsidiaries and coordinated all aspects of both domestic and international finance and accounting, human resources, administrative and legal functions. A CPA, she also earned an MBA from Loyola Marymount University and was on the Board of Directors of both Sendia Corp. and ISOCOR.
Roberto Medrano, Executive Vice President
A recognized executive in the field of Internet security, Roberto Medrano helped to create the firewall, content security and security policy segments of the security market. Medrano has been an active member on President Bush’s National Security Advisory Committee, National Cyber Security Summit, and the White House National Strategy to Secure Cyberspace. He also participated in President Clinton’s White House Security Summit. Medrano has extensive experience with both start-ups and large companies, having been involved at the beginning of four IT industries: EDA, Open Systems, Computer Security and now SOA. Prior to joining SOA Software, Medrano was CEO of PoliVec, a leader in security policy. Before joining PoliVec, he was one of the top 100 Sr. Executives at Hewlett Packard. At Hewlett-Packard (HP) Medrano served as the General Manager of the E-Services and Internet Security Divisions and as a division general manager. Medrano holds a master’s degree in business administration from the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA), a master of science degree in electrical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering from the University of Southern California (USC).
Alistair Farquharson, Chief Technology Officer
Mr. Farquharson’s skills span many industries and include designing and implementing system architectures, as well as spearheading initiatives as development / team lead. He is an expert in custom application development, distributed environments, architecting scalable hardware and software applications and systems, and Web services application development. At SOA Software, he spearheads product development and provides thought leadership to enterprise customers implementing Web Services. Prior to joining SOA Software, he worked at US Interactive, where he was a key advisor to CTOs of many companies regarding Internet architecture issues. He was also a member of the architectural guiding committee, which helped to design the next generation of Internet architecture.
Frank Martinez, Executive Vice President, Product Strategy
Frank Martinez, is a recognized expert in the area of distributed, enterprise application and infrastructure platforms. Mr Martinez is focused on driving development of scalable service-oriented infrastructure software that integrates business processes and information enterprise-wide. Mr Martinez’s reputation as a technological visionary is demonstrated by his record of bringing innovative and commercially successful software solutions to market. He has had operating roles as a senior executive of several VC-backed firms, and was instrumental in building Intershop Communications into a multi-billion dollar public company in less than three years. Mr Martinez was recently named an InfoWorld Innovator by InfoWorld magazine and has also been named one of 25 leading IT innovators by CRN.
Alex Lazar, Senior Vice President Sales
Mr Lazar has a track record of building sales velocity in early stage companies as well as larger public corporations. He is responsible for driving all sales efforts and extending SOA Software within the marketplace. Prior to SOA Software, Mr Lazar was program director for security at IBM Tivoli, following the sale of Access360, where he served as Vice President. Prior to Access360, he led the sales expansion of software vendor ISOCOR, and continued as Vice President after its sale to Critical Path. In the years before ISOCOR, he built and managed numerous technology sales organizations with companies doing business with Fortune-class customers. Mr Lazar is a proven leader with both entrepreneurial and operational skills and has a solid understanding of the issues, processes and methodologies required to help companies achieve higher levels of revenue.
Jeff Drake, Senior Vice President Corporate Development
Mr. Drake is an industry veteran with over 20 years of experience in the technology arena, predominately focused on startup companies. Most recently, he was the Director of Security Strategy for IBM Tivoli Software post the acquisition of Access360 where he was the co-founder and EVP, Corporate Development and Strategy. He was instrumental in the fundraising, growth, and strategy for Access360 prior to the sale of the company to IBM. Mr. Drake is the co-author of the book ‘Security Provisioning, Managing in Extended Enterprises’ and is a frequent contributor to articles and speaking engagements. He has held executive positions at Enterprise Solutions and Quadratron Systems, and has formulated complex strategic alliances with companies such as VeriSign, Oracle, and IBM. He is a seasoned executive focused on Business Development and Strategy at SOA Software.
