SOA Software Announces Portfolio Management for IBM WebSphere Service Registry and Repository
Portfolio Manager helps executives make effective resource allocation and prioritization of SOA projects.
Los Angeles, CA – May 4, 2010 – SOA Software, a leading SOA and Cloud Services Governance provider, announced today a new SOA Planning Governance product that augments the SOA Governance capabilities of IBM WebSphere Service Registry and Repository (WSRR).
Portfolio Manager for WSRR helps to maximize the efficiency of investment in SOA initiatives by automatically provisioning into IBM WSRR services that have been planned and prioritized according to strategic business and IT objectives. It helps management identify candidate services and build an SOA roadmap through SOA Modeling, Asset Identification, and a Portfolio Management process. To achieve these goals Portfolio Manager functions as part of a unified SOA Governance automation product family for IBM WSRR with seamless integration with IBM WSRR and SOA Software’s Policy Manager for IBM WSRR.
“SOA Software’s Portfolio Manager for IBM WSRR will complement our strong service lifecycle management capabilities helping our customers identify candidate enterprise services built with and running on any heterogeneous platforms,” said Dr. Angel Luis Diaz, Vice President, Product Management of Business Process Management and Connectivity at IBM Corporation. “By combining this solution with IBM’s comprehensive service visibility and governance solutions, customers are better able to broadly, flexibly and continuously automate and govern their business processes. Especially in today’s economic and hyper-competitive environment, this optimizes productivity and resources needed to achieve business agility.”
“Planning Governance helps enterprises achieve a quicker return on investment in SOA, making sure that they build to plan and build to priority,” said Brent Carlson, senior vice president of technology at SOA Software. “Unplanned SOA Programs will fail because project-specific services will not be flexible enough to support generalized reuse, and without early success, application development teams won’t see the potential value in working to move to SOA and the organizational culture will not evolve as needed to support a successful SOA program.”
Business/IT Alignment and Collaboration is paramount to achieve the benefits of SOA such as Agility and increased ROI. Planning Governance involves the appropriate stakeholders in business and IT to prioritize and approve new service and service enablement requests. Furthermore, Portfolio Manager for IBM WSRR, with its tight integration with IBM WSRR and Policy Manager for IBM WSRR, will provide enhanced visibility of where services are in their service lifecycle to all practitioners including business stakeholders. By using Portfolio manager for IBM WSRR™, customers can trace services in any part of the service lifecycle in IBM WSRR™ back to the business capabilities that they sustain. Portfolio Manager for IBM WSRR™ provides unprecedented visibility and traceability supporting Business/IT Alignment and collaboration.
Portfolio Manager for WSRR will help existing IBM WSRR users better understand the current state of the portfolio of services, identify the gaps, plan and prioritize services to maximize return on investment and reduce risk to their SOA initiatives by aligning them with their business goals.
